MDIS launches private education sector’s first School of Nursing
MDIS launched the private education sector’s first dedicated School of Nursing. Our student enrolment has seen a positive uptrend and till date, we have 212 students. We aim to enrol 2,000 students by 2025 to meet surging demand for healthcare professionals.
The launch ceremony also marked the official opening of the MDIS Nursing Practicum Lab, a well-equipped facility for post-registered nurses to enhance their practical skills.
Students, Angeline Lim and Sahrulniza Haslindah, together with Dr Norrie Brown, Director Quality Enhancement & Senior Teaching Fellow, School of Health & Social Care, Edinburgh Napier University (ENU), demonstrated clinical assessment with a mannequin during the lab tour.
Guest-of-Honour, Dr Chia Shi-Lu, Deputy Head (Research) & Senior Consultant, Singapore General Hospital, and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC, graced the launch. Dr Eric Kuan, Dr R. Theyvendran, Mr Chong Kwan Wai, Dr Norrie Brown and guests from the medical industry were there to witness this momentous occasion.
The School of Nursing offers a post-registration degree targeted at registered nurses who wish to upskill themselves. Classes at the school are fully conducted by ENU.
