Course Description
The Professional Certificate in English is designed to strengthen learners' English language proficiency and academic commiunication skills to support further studies. The programme provides a structured pathway that prepares learners for progression to Diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes where English is the medium of instruction.
Programme Objectives
- Aims to help students acquire English language skills in preparation for a tertiary education in the English medium
- Designed to ensure a progressive and systematic development of the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills as well as the linguistic competencies (i.e. pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and discourse)
Course Duration & Structure
- Consists of 3 levels: Level 1 (Foundation), Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced)
- 720 contact hours (360 hours classroom learning, 144 hours guided learning and 216 hours supervised self-study)
- 5 days a week with 6 hours per day (Full-time)
- Students need to pass the necessary assessments in order to progress to the next level.

Entry Requirements
All applicants must be of age 16 and above.
Language: Applicants need to give Online English Placement Test (MDIS self-developed)
Academic: Completetion of secondary education or and equivalent qualification recognised by MDIS
