Programme Aims and Objectives

The Higher Diploma in Information Technology and Cybersecurity course is designed to teach you the essential technical skills to secure computer and network resources and to handle cyber range exercises.

You will also learn how to apply the principles and practices of infocomm security management, and to carry out the forensics process in computers and mobile devices.

This programme particularly focuses on Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures, Computer Hacking Forensics Investigation, Computer Security Incident Handling, Network Technology, Database Systems, Project Management, etc - modules that will provide you with specialised skills to implement Cybersecurity services and solutions for the computer technology industries, IT business, etc.,

In addition, the course aims to develop the analytical and personal skills necessary for you to work in a specialised computing and infocomm security management environment.

Progression

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will gain year 2 entry to Bachelor of Science (Hons) Cybersecurity and Networks and/or Bachelor of Science (Hons) Information Technology - awarded by Teesside University, UK.


 

Programme Modules

The Higher Diploma in Information Technology and Cybersecurity is a course at MDIS that offers a unique hybrid curriculum consisting of specialised cybersecurity modules developed by EC-Council paired with essential Infocomm Technology modules.

Successful completion of the EC-Council modules and exam allows you to obtain FOUR professional industry-recognised certifications awarded by EC-Council* in addition to the Higher Diploma in Information Technology and Cybersecurity.

This EC-Council’s Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures (CEH) course aims to provide you with the tools and techniques used by hackers and information security professionals alike to break into any computer system. This course will immerse you into a “Hacker Mindset” in order to teach you how to think like a hacker and better defend against future attacks
This EC-Council’s Computer Hacking Forensics Investigation (CHFI) course aims to validate your abilities to identify a cyber intruder’s footprints and to gather the necessary and proper evidence for investigation purposes. This course provides a strong baseline knowledge of key concepts and practices in the digital forensic domains relevant to today’s organizations
This EC-Council’s Computer Security Incident Handling (ECIH) course is designed to provide the fundamental skills to handle and respond to the computer security incidents in an information system. The course addresses various underlying principles and techniques for detecting and responding to current and emerging computer security threats.
This IIB Council’s Certified Project Manager (CPM) course is developed with the aim to introduce the world’s first Smart Project management approach. The course provides you a thorough overview of project management traditional best practices, methodologies, frameworks and guidelines while using technology to address the challenges of today’s work environments and procedures.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be of age 16 and above, and possess ONE of the following admission requirements:

  • Obtained at least a Grade 'E' at GCE 'A' Levels in any 2 subjects OR
  • International Foundation Diploma in Information Technology awarded by MDIS OR
  • International Foundation Diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art - Technology from MDIS OR
  • Diploma from recognised local polytechnics / pathway programmes from other PEIs OR
  • International applicants must have completed 12 years of formal Education OR
  • Mature candidates (≥30 years old with 8 years relevant work experience)

Mathematics Requirements

The applicant is required to achieve one of the following:

  • At least a Grade 'C6' at GCE 'O' level in Mathematics OR
  • To pass the MDIS Mathematics Entrance Test

If an applicant fails the MDIS Mathematics Entrance Test, he or she is required to study, complete and pass the Online Mathematics Preparation Course. The applicant will then proceed to take the MDIS Mathematics Entrance Test the 2nd time.

Local applicants who do not meet all the minimum entry requirements will be classified as non-standard entry must study online to complete and pass the Online Mathematics / English Preparation Course, passed the MDIS Mathematics / English Entrance Test and an interview.  Students are given 3 attempts for MDIS Mathematics / English Entrance Test and Online Mathematics / English Preparation Course.

English Language Requirements

Applicants are required to possess at least ONE of the following:

  • C6 pass in English at GCE ‘O’ level or equivalent OR
  • Achieve a minimum band of 5.5 in IELTS or equivalent OR
  • To pass the MDIS English Entrance Test OR
  • MDIS Professional Certificate in English OR
  • Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS OR
  • Letter from College/University clearly stating the Medium of Instruction of the highest qualification to be English
  • Achieve a minimum score of 85 and above in Duolingo English Test

Ethical hacking, also known as penetration testing or pen testing, refers to the act of legally breaking into computers and devices to test an organisation's defenses. Read about our Ethical Hacking and Forensic Investigations Countermeasures course to find out more.

Local applicants should have at least a Grade 'E' at GCE 'A' Levels in any 2 subjects, an International Foundation Diploma from MDIS or a relevant diploma from a recognised polytechnic or PEI. International applicants must have completed 12 years of formal education. 

Our Information Technology and Cybersecurity course offers a unique hybrid curriculum consisting of specialised cybersecurity modules developed by EC-Council paired with essential Infocomm Technology modules.

A part-time course will take you 12 months to complete while a full-time course will take you 7 months.

Students will have to sit through and pass all external examinations conducted in school to obtain all 4 certificates.

Upon completion of the programme, students can pursue a career as a cybersecurity professional in the banking and finance, health or transportation sectors, among many others.
