Programme Objectives
The overall aims of the programme are to:
- Provide an industrially/commercially relevant education for students from a variety of subject backgrounds, employment and life experience utilising appropriate modes of study;
- Enable students to fully explore the complex body of knowledge related to the Computer Science discipline: some of it at the current boundaries of research and development;
- Enable students to acquire a range of practical, professional and transferable skills to equip them to contribute to their chosen profession or pursue further study. Successful students will merit relevant exemption from British Computer Society (BCS) professional examinations and possible partial Chartered Engineering (C.Eng.) status.

Growing Demand For Infocomm Professionals
The number of employed infocomm manpower grew by 15.1% to reach 172,800 in 2015. Together with 20,100 infocomm job vacancies, total demand of infocomm manpower increased by 17.1% to reach 192,900 in 2015.
Infocomm professionals are expected to grow by about 53,200 from 2016 to 2018.
Technical IT specialists accounted for more than 7 in 10 jobs in 2015 IT Development roles accounted for 48% of the total demand for infocomm professionals, with software development job roles being the most in demand.
The next most demanded group of professionals were those working in Network & Systems related job roles. They accounted for 16% of the total demand for infocomm professionals.
Other tech specialists such as IT Security Specialists, Data Scientists and Infocomm R&D accounted for 6% (9,300) for infocomm professionals. Total demand of infocomm manpower increased by 4,200 or 2.7% to reach 161,200 in 2013.

Entry Requirements
All applicants must be age 17 and above, and must obtain one of the following requirements:
Year 1 Entry:
- International Foundation Diploma in Information Technology OR
- At least two GCE ' A' levels OR
- Relevant foundation diploma qualifications awarded by other Private Education Institutions (PEIs) with an entry requirement of 10 years of formal education OR
- MDIS International Foundation Diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art
Year 2 Entry:
- MDIS Higher Diploma in Information Technology OR
- MDIS Higher Diploma in Ethical Hacking and Forensic Investigations Countermeasures OR
- MDIS Higher Diploma in Information Technology and Cybersecurity OR
- Relevant diploma level qualifications awarded by other Private Education Institutions (PEIs) with an entry requirement of 12 years of formal education
Year 3 Entry:
- Relevant local polytechnic diplomas with a pass grade OR
- Relevant overseas polytechnic diplomas with an entry requirement of 10 years of formal education OR
- Higher National Diploma level qualifications in Information Technology related disciplines OR
- Relevant PEIs qualifications (equivalent to 1st and 2nd year EDP) with entry requirement of 12 years of formal education
Note: Some applicants may need to take bridging modules to secure Year 3 entry into the programme and subject to approval by Teesside University.
English Language Requirements
