The inaugural MDIS – Bangor University (BU) graduation ceremony was held on 9 September and was attended by more than 200 graduates and guest. The graduation ceremony, held at the Stamford Ballroom of Raffles City Convention Centre, was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Dr Ahmad Magad, Justice of Peace, and Chairman of MDIS Senate, and Professor John G Hughes, President and Vice-Chancellor of Bangor University.

In his opening address, MDIS President, Dr Eric Kuan emphasised the need to continue to embrace lifelong learning even as one steps into the corporate world. He reminded graduates to “make learning a lifelong pursuit and be open to learning new things in life” so as to fuel their personal and professional growth, and help them remain relevant in today’s fast paced corporate world.

Guest-of-Honour, Dr Ahmad Magad also shared his wisdom, saying “There are numerous learning lessons in life – be prepared to learn from every job and experience. Embrace new technology; be a positive influence to yourself and others and stay focused on achieving your goals!”

Top student Mayang Sekar Mustikowati, summed up the graduation ceremony with her speech by reminding fellow graduates that although there will be obstacles along the way, they must all possess the strength to overcome all challenges. She quoted Tom Hanks from the movie - League of Their Own: “It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it.”

MDIS wishes all graduates the best in their future endeavours!
