Diploma in Cybersecurity at MDIS’ School of Technology (SOT)
As enterprises in Singapore digitalise, a significant amount of sensitive information and data is increasingly stored online. This could include intellectual property, payment data or personal information. If a data breach occurs, the safety of customers and a brand’s reputation can be severely compromised. To safeguard against cyber attacks, the cybersecurity industry is evolving in parallel to protect the assets of organisations.
Cyber security is becoming an integral part of today’s economy, and the demand for those holding qualifications – whether a specialist diploma or bachelor's degree – has multiplied several times over the last few years. MDIS offers a range of different cyber security diploma options, from foundational diplomas to higher or advanced postgraduate diplomas.
Programme objectives
MDIS’ Higher Diploma in Information Technology and Cyber Security equips candidates with the knowledge of common cyber attacks, how to carry out a risk assessment through penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and incident response and management. A diploma in cyber security or cyber forensics allows you to be well-versed in the practice of testing computers, servers and networks so as to be able to devise strategies to prevent malicious cyber attacks. Students will be ready for a fulfilling career in cyber security and can consider roles in functions including engineering defenses, security testing and responding to attacks. Some key modules include:
- Cyber security fundamentals (importance of cyber security, legal requirements of information security)
- Fundamentals of programming
- Design secure network architecture
- Identify common cyber threats
- Risk management (assessing risk, control strategies, industry standard and practises, firewalls)
- Penetration testing
- Ethical hacking
The MDIS School of Technology (SOT) offers courses that build foundational knowledge in Information Technology (IT) and cyber security. After completing a diploma in cyber security or cyber forensics, consider gaining deeper domain knowledge by obtaining a postgraduate or Higher Diploma in information Technology and Cybersecurity, Bachelor of Science (Hons) Cybersecurity and Networks or a Master of Science Cybersecurity.
