Dr Christopher Syn Kiu Choong joined MDIS as a Council Member in 2003 and was appointed as Vice-President in 2007. He graduated from NUS with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology (Honours) and subsequently a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Bacteriology. Professionally, he is a senior consultant forensic geneticist and director of forensic biology in the Singapore public service. He has authored over 30 international journal publications and 80 international conference papers.

With his extensive forensic genetics experience and knowledge, he has been consulted on both scientific and quality management matters by law enforcement agencies in Singapore, Brunei, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. In 2011, he was honoured with the Outstanding Science Alumni Award by NUS and in 2018, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) National Day Award.

Dr Syn has held the position of Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, NUS. He is also a member of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Life Sciences and Chemical Technology Advisory Committee, member of the Singapore National Committee for the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) Technical Committee 272 Forensic Sciences. Internationally, he is a member of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes DNA Workgroup, Singapore representative of the INTERPOL DNA Monitoring Expert Group, and the Secretary of the Asian Forensic Sciences Network DNA Workgroup.

In his current capacity as Vice-President of MDIS, he has provided strategic counsel and has been instrumental in the significant developments of the institute. In addition, he also serves as the Chairman of the Academic Quality and Examination Board and a member of the Education & Training Sub-Committee.   He has contributed immensely to the development of MDIS, and continues to lend his support to the growth of the institute.

 

Dr Wong Sin Yew
Member

Dr Wong Sin Yew is the Vice-President of MDIS and is an Infectious Disease Physician, and Director of Infectious Disease Partners Pte Ltd.  He graduated with an MBBS, NUS in 1984, M Med (Int Med), Singapore in 1989 and the Fellow, Academy of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) in 1994.  He has extensive experience in infectious diseases serving in various capacities and institutions in Singapore and overseas.   

 

In addition, he has delivered numerous lecturers, attended congresses and conferences,  conducted research trials and  reviewed  more than 40 original and review articles in peer review journals and six book chapters on infectious diseases.

 

Dr Wong joined MDIS in 2005 and was appointed as Vice-President in 2010.  In his current capacity as Vice-President, he has been instrumental in the significant developments of the institute.   In addition, he also serves as a member of the Academic Quality and Examination Board, Education &  Training and the Finance & Investment Sub-Committees.  

 

He has contributed immensely to the significant  growth and development of MDIS  in specific areas of his expertise, and continues to give his support  to the growth  of MDIS. 

 

 

Mr Christopher Yeow Shih Shin, PBM
Member

Mr Christopher Yeow Shih Shin, PBM is the Honorary Treasurer of MDIS and Proprietor of J2 Associates, a management consultancy and training company. He graduated with a Master of Science in Design of Production Systems, Loughborough University of Technology, UK.  He was awarded the Public Service Medal award in 1990 for commendable public service in Singapore.

 

Mr Yeow has a wide range of experience with 20 years in senior management in manufacturing, 14 years as Executive Director in a Non-profit Organisation, and 23 years as adjunct lecturer and associate trainer at various institutions, and has actualised his skills, knowledge and expertise to support the numerous developments of MDIS.  

 

He joined MDIS as  a Council Member in 2006 and was appointed as Honorary Treasurer in 2021.  He has served in various positions in the Governing Council, and contributed to the significant development of MDIS.  In addition, he also serves as a member of the Academic Quality and Examination Board, Education &  Training, Finance & Investment, Property & Technology Sub-Committees and as Assistant Treasurer of the MDIS Education Trust Fund.  

 

Mr Yeow has contributed immensely to the growth and development of MDIS  in specific areas of his expertise, and continues to give his support  to the growth of MDIS. 

 

 

Dr Anthony Yee Kum Choon
Member

Dr Anthony Yee Kum Choon is a Council Member of MDIS, and the Managing Director of Crossfields Asia PLC, an engineering firm specialising in Energy studies, Power Station Design and Construction.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics) with Marketing Management (Joint First Class Hons), Master of Engineering (University of South Australia), MBA (International Finance) and subsequently a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of East London (UK). Dr Yee is a Life Senior Member of the IEEE (USA), Fellow Inst. Marine Engineering Science and Technology (UK), Fellow Inst. Science and Technology (UK).

Dr Yee has over 35 years of work experience in the field of engineering, mostly in senior positions. He has sat on many technical committees and lectured in local and overseas institutions of higher learning. He has also served as the Chairman of the Board of the Royal Commonwealth Society.

He joined MDIS in 2017 and currently serves as a member of the Academic Quality and Examination Board, Education & Training and Corporate Relations & Student Services Sub-Committees.  

Dr Yee has contributed significantly to the growth and development of MDIS in specific areas of his expertise, and continues to give his support to the development of MDIS. 

 

    

Mr Roger Tham Kong Khuan
Member

 

Mr Roger Tham Kong Khuan,  has served the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) voluntarily for more than 20 years since 1998. He is currently the Assistant Secretary-General, and first joined MDIS as a Council Member of the MDIS Governing Council and has held various portfolios in the Council, including Honorary Treasurer and Assistant Honorary Treasurer. 

He also serves as the Chairman of the Student Services Subcommittee as well as the Corporate Relations Subcommittee. In his respective portfolios with MDIS, he has provided valuable counsel, guidance and mentorship to the team. 

He was conferred the MDIS Honorary Fellow award in 2013, for his invaluable contributions and support towards the interest and welfare of MDIS, and the advancement of the institute as a provider of quality education.

He graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the University of East London.

His career in the airline industry spans over a period of 47 years in various positions and working with subsidiary companies of the industry. He commenced his career with Singapore Airlines in 1973, and was transferred to Singapore Airlines Engineering Company Pte Ltd (SIAEC) in 1992 and seconded to Singapore Jamco Pte Ltd in 1998 and subsequently deseconded to SIAEC in 2000. He has retired from the airline industry in August 2020 and currently allocates his time towards the progress of MDIS. 

He has also been actively involved in Community services during the period 1996 to 2000 as a Member, Telok Kurau Feedback Group; Telok Kurau Zone A - Sub Committee, Secretary to the Chairman and a Citizen’s Consultative Committee member of the Joo Chiat Community Service. 

Mr Roger Tham is a valued member of the MDIS Governing Council and we look forward to his continued support and guidance.
