Master of Science Psychological ScienceAwarded by: University of Roehampton, UK
Programme Objectives
Students learn the scientific underpinnings of the discipline of psychology across a range of key areas, including social, developmental, cognitive and biological psychology. Students are equipped with skills to critically evaluate psychological theory and research, as well as gain hands-on training in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Programme Aims:
- To engender a scientific understanding of the mind, brain, behaviour and experience including their interactions with the complex environments in which they exist.
- Students will acquire knowledge and a range of research skills and methods for investigating experience and behaviour, culminating in an ability to conduct psychological research independently.
- Develop an understanding of the role of empirical evidence in the creation and constraint of theory and how theory guides the collection and interpretation of empirical data.
The programme invites students to consider multiple perspectives in a way that fosters critical evaluation and reflection. Appreciation of theory and research findings, including relevant ethical and sociocultural issues is linked to understanding of real-life applications of theory to the full range of experience and behaviour and the application of psychological understanding to real-world questions.
