Programme Objectives
This Master of Science Healthcare Management programme will equip you with real knowledge and skills fit to work effectively within the complex and rapidly evolving healthcare environment. This programme aims to develop skills that will enable you as a healthcare professional to respond effectively in a rapidly changing health arena and is strongly influenced by market demands, economics, and local, national, and international health policies. The programme focuses on developing healthcare professionals who can actively advance service development in response to contemporary healthcare knowledge, research, and innovation. This requires the skills and application of leadership, research and management strategies including working effectively through collaborating in an effective team, managing and leading a team. The focus of this programme is on employability; equipping you with evidence-based skills to work in broad based, integrated, complex, healthcare environments and roles. The programme offers you the opportunity to progress in health-related field of practices in areas such as Nursing Management, Human Resources, Corporate Planning and Development, Public Relations, Government Relations, and Marketing. This programme has also been contextualised to meet the healthcare needs of Singapore by utilising the Ministry of Health, Leadership & Organisational Development Division ONE Healthcare Leadership Framework. This framework reflects these paradigm shifts and captures the qualities that leaders in healthcare need for the future. This overarching framework will guide your development as a leader in the healthcare in Singapore.
Learning Outcomes
The main aims of the programme are to enable students to:
- To provide you with sustainable healthcare management strategies and leadership skills that will enable you to respond effectively in a rapidly changing health arena that is strongly influenced by market place demands, economics and local, national and international health policies;
- To support and challenge you in the development of your knowledge and skills to enable you to enter and/or continue more effectively in the professional practice of healthcare management;
- To engage you in the process of practical application of your developing knowledge and skills, to promote effectiveness in the world of work
- To provide you with the opportunity to plan and conduct a healthcare management project leading to the completion of a professional project report

Shona is the programme leader for the MSc Healthcare Management in addition to being deputy for the BSc Nursing. She has worked as a registered general nurse in orthopaedics and ophthalmology. As a registered midwife Shona's areas of expertise are intrapartum, neonatal and community-based care. She has an interested in enhancing person centred care. Shona works collaboratively with community midwives in developing their confidence and skill in managing community based obstetric emergencies in order to improve outcomes for mothers and babies. Her research interests include interprofessional learning and person-centred care. Shona is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and teaches on both undergraduate and post graduate students, and supervises Master’s dissertation students.
Dr Sandra Sharp, PhD, MSc, PGC, RN

Dr Sandra Sharp is a registered nurse who has spent over fifteen years working in acute care Scotland and Australia. Her clinical roles included working in intensive and coronary care units and latterly working in clinical education and practice development roles. Sandra is programme leader for the BSc Nursing Studies (Singapore). Sandra is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and teaches on both undergraduate and post graduate students, and supervises PhD students. Her research interests include person centred care, and workforce development. She is the clinical academic representative large workforce development project across NHS Lothian.

Master of Science Healthcare Management Entry Requirements – Enrol with MDIS Singapore
Applicants must be of age 21 and above and meet at least one of the following requirements:
1) Bachelor's degree with honours at a 2:2 or above in a subject related to health, health sciences, or management
OR
2) Health, health sciences or management based related degree level qualification and grade
OR
3) Mature candidates of min 30 years old with 10 years of working experience in healthcare management role ^
Note: All applications are subjected to Univsersity's approval *
^ Applicant will be required to demonstrate that they have the approproate knowledge and skills at SCQF level 10 to enter their programme. They will be asked to reflect on their previous experience and demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding equivalent to that achieved on successful completion of bachelor's degree with honours. ENU will provide applicants with support in their reflective process through interviews and guidance on presenting their evidence.
* Applicants who do not meet above reuquirements but who hokd equivalent qualifications and/or work experience, for those with work experience only, we would require a minimum of 10 years relevant healthcare sector work experience in a senior level/management position, will be considered via the University's Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process which requires them to submit evidence to demonstrate the equivalency of their qualifications and/or experience.
