Ergonomic Issues when Working from Home

In the recent, COVID-19 pandemic around the globe, most countries are in lock-down or semi-lock down conditions. Thus, many companies allow their workforce to work from home.  The main reason is to prevent a second wave of outbreak from recurring. Working from home is one of the most effective ways of preventing a widespread of the of the virus, especially to the community level.

However, working from home, has its pros and cons. One of the major risks posed to workers is ergonomic health risks coupled with  back pain or muscle aches or neck pain due to adopting of awkward or improper posture when working at home.

Indeed, all workers will bring their digital devices or laptops to their home for the purpose of work. Due to the conditions at home that do not facilitate good working conditions and working posture when using laptops, such bodily muscle injuries can happen. The injury can be more prominent if prolonged hours of awkward posture is adopted when using laptops or any digital devices. Hence, it is critical for companies to conduct proper ergonomic safety training for their staff to better prepare them in avoiding such risks.
