Mathematics
This module provides students with essential and fundamental skills in Mathematics as a foundation course leading to admission to MDIS’s Diploma in Engineering. Students are required to solve real life engineering problems. Topics include different types of equations, graphs, binomial theorem, trigonometric functions and differentiation and integration.
Physics
The objective of this module is to develop students' understanding of the theories in Physics at the introductory level and an awareness of their applications in the engineering environment. This module provides the fundamental knowledge in Physics necessary as a foundation for more advanced topics to be taught in the MDIS Diploma in Engineering. Topics include heat transfer, general wave properties, electricity and magnetism.
Introduction to Mechanics
Mechanics is the branch of physics that deals with the study of motion and its causes. This module aims to provide student with the basic understanding of the concepts and principles of mechanics and its application to real-life situations. Topics include gravitational field, energy conversion and conservation, effects of forces, moments and pressure and in work and power.
Product Design and Technology
Design and Technology is designed to develop participants’ confidence, competence and responsibility in designing, producing and evaluating to meet both needs and opportunities, and to understand the factors that contribute to successful design and production.
The module also aims to provide students with an introductory coverage of various manufacturing engineering and technology used for materials like metals, plastics, ceramics and composites. It emphasizes a qualitative description of the science, and the technology and practice of manufacturing.
