Objectives

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is an internationally recognised business qualification. Southern Cross University's BBA is designed for students who are looking to develop a strong understanding of business disciplines such as international business, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing or management and who want to work in the fast paced business environment in today's global economy.

The BBA also provides an excellent grounding for students who want to advance their career by studying a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

This SCU course is offered through MDIS:

• To equip participants with the ability to handle the challenges of managing across national borders
• To inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship and venture into the international business arena

 

Assessment Methods

Assessment may be in the form of essays, reports, audio or video presentations, online quizzes, case analyses or problem resolutions and examination.

In addition, students attending the day programme must achieve at least 90% class attendance to be eligible to sit for examination.

 

Graduation and Award

Upon the successful completion of the programme, graduates will be awarded the Bachelor of Business Administration by Southern Cross University. Graduates may use the designatory title BBA after their names.

• Examines and discusses several entrepreneurship theories and their applications.

 

Project Management

• Considers the processes of developing, implementing and evaluating a specific project.
• Discusses needs analysis, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, tendering procedures and legal considerations, and the uses of computer software

 

Strategic Management

• Integrates and applies knowledge gained in previous units for the purpose of evaluating complex business problems and forumlating policies and strategies for their solution.
• Provides a conceptual framework for the formulation, implementation and evaluation of business strategies for local and global perspectives.

International Finance

• Deals with the operation of international financial markets, and covers various aspects of the operations and activities of the trans-national business enterprise.
• The management of international financial risks.
• The implications of the rapid development of centres of offshore banking and finance, and their impact on the way firms finance their operations

 

International Human Resource Management

• Seeks to cover cross-cultural management in the broadest sense
• Covers comparative Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations to provide students with a perspective of other systems, e.g. in European countries
• Concentrates on the growing field of International Human Resource Management
• Topics include training for overseas postings, international recruitment and management development of foreign nationals, compensation and international labour relations

• Recognises the importance of business organisations with cross-border operations
• Designed to give students an overview of multinational business organisations in general as well as an understanding of country-specific cross-cultural factors impacting on multinational business organizations on Asia

International Economics and Trade

• Covers both theoretical and practical aspects of trade, the development of the international economy, inter-industry trade and trade policy

Entry Requirements

Interested candidates must fulfill ONE of the following admission requirements:

• Business related Diploma from a local polytechnic

    OR

• MDIS Higher Diploma in International Business

    OR

• Other relevant Diplomas may be considered for entry on a case-by-case basis

Applicant must demonstrate Proficiency in English (with Grade C Pass in English at GCE 'O' Levels).

Diploma must include sufficient business units for advanced standing to be approved by Southern Cross University.

Other equivalent qualification may be considered on a case by case basis

 

Additional Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English Language.

Applicants without C6 pass credit at GCE 'O' Levels or its equivalent are required:

• Achieve academic IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band;

    OR

• Achieve TOEFL 550 with no less than 4.5 in the test of written English;

    OR

• Achieve internet-based TOEFL 79 with no less than 22 in writing; or equivalent

Application Procedure

International student is required to apply for student pass if he/she wishes to study full-time in Singapore.

Applicant is required to submit the following documents to MDIS:

• MDIS Application Form
• 4 recent passport-size photographs of the applicant. (against white background)
• 1 copy of Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) e-Form 16
• Copy of applicant's passport pages showing his/ her particulars and travel and travel document's date of validity. (At least 1 year)
• Copy of applicant's Birth Certificate / Affidavit
• Copy of applicant's Certified / Notarised copy of Education Results/Certificates and Transcripts ( with detailed results)
• Copy of the student pass (For applicants transferred from other schools in Singapore) or Notification for Cancellation of Student Pass, Visit pass and Embarkation Form.
• Must show proof of English Medium Study / First Placement Test Attempted / IELTS / TOEFL
• Copy of financial ability. (e.g. bank statement, fixed deposit / saving account ) • Visa Required Country only (E.g. minimum amount of RMB150, 000 for PRC only)
• Proof of parent's occupation (PRC only)
• University Matriculation Form (if applicable)
• Letter by applicant indicating interest to study with MDIS (study plan/ statement of purpose) for Master programmes

The MDIS application form shall be accompanied by the registration fee of S$250.00 (exclude prevailing GST) and ICA student pass processing fee of SGD 30.00 payable either by cash, credit card or demand draft/telegraphic transfer from the student.
