Objectives

The Bachelor of Business Administration gives students the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of management and professional practice, and the option to specialise in International business or marketing.

The BBA also provides an excellent grounding for students who want to advance their career by studying the Southern Cross University Master of Business Administration.

This SCU course is offered through MDIS:

  • To equip participants with the ability to handle the challenges of managing across national borders
  • To inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship and venture into the international business arena

 

Assessment Methods

Assessment may be in the form of essays, reports, audio or video presentations, online quizzes, case analyses or problem resolutions and examination.

Modules are taught in a face-to-face manner.

In addition, students attending the day programme must achieve at least 90% class attendance to be eligible to sit for examination.

 

Graduation 

Upon the successful completion of the programme, graduates will be awarded the Bachelor of Business Administration by Southern Cross University. Graduates may use the designatory title BBA after their names.

  • Critically analyses the concept of leadership and reviews the prominent theories, models and contemporary themes and issues.
  • Students will examine leadership practices and styles and apply a range of techniques used to evaluate leadership effectiveness.

 

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

  • Introduces students to the concepts of entrepreneurship, the new venture creation process, and the entrepreneurial environment.
  • Provides students with an understanding of entrepreneurs and their entrepreneurial behaviour. Several entrepreneurship theories and their applications will also be examined and discussed.

 

Sustainable Business Management

  • Applies the concept of sustainability to contemporary business organisations by examining a range of innovative environmental and social management tools.

 

Strategic Management

  • Integrates and applies knowledge gained in previous units for the purpose of evaluating complex business problems and forumlating policies and strategies for their solution.
  • Provides a conceptual framework for the formulation, implementation and evaluation of business strategies for local and global perspectives.
  • Extensive use of local and international case situations.

 

International Finance

  • Deals with the operation of international financial markets, and covers various aspects of the operations and activities of the trans-national business enterprise, and the management of international financial risks.
  • The implications of the rapid development of centres of offshore banking and finance, and their impact on the way firms finance their operations is also studied.

 

International Management

  • Covers the major elements of management that cross country borders.
  • Examines the reasons why organisations elect to become transnational and the differences between international trade and multinational operations.
  • The topics organisation, communication, strategy and operations are examined in light of international business demands.
  • Students become familiar with the environmental and ethical challenges that impact on international managers.

 

 

Principles of International Business

  • Recognises the importance of business organisations with cross-border operations
  • Designed to give students an overview of multinational business organisations in general as well as an understanding of country specific cross-cultural factors impacting on multinational business organisations in Asia.
  • Concentrates on Asian cultures because of their strategic importance to Australian businesses.

 

Global Markeing 

  • Exposes students to the potential, practice and pitfalls inherent in marketing overseas.
  • Discusses the international marketing environment, identification of export markets and product planning, pricing, promotion and distribution for foreign markets.

Diploma must include sufficient business units for advanced standing to be approved by Southern Cross University.
