Graduands and Parents,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

1  My name is Ng Xin Yang from the graduating class of 2018 - MBA Banking and Finance programme.   It is indeed a pleasure and a great honour for me to be given the opportunity to deliver this address. My heartfelt congratulations to all of my fellow graduates on reaching an important milestone in your scholastic journey. Today is truly ours, a day in which we reminisce about our school days, celebrate our hard work and reflect on the academic journey that we had embarked on a few years ago.

2  We are graduates of Bangor University and have received our degree from an institution located in a breathtaking landscape with panoramic views of mountains and seas, situated 12 miles away from the Snowdon Mountain, the tallest mountain in Wales. Although we did not have the opportunity in the course of our study to scale 3,500 feet to the summit of this mountain, we thank MDIS for providing us the platform in Singapore to pursue a degree from Bangor University, in order for us to scale up the summit of our own mountains, i.e.  our very own career goals.

3  Graduation marks the end of yet another extraordinary milestone in our lives. Reaching this checkpoint, I am certain that many of us are already anxious to start on the next, be it further studies or entering the workforce. We all have our own mountains to scale and as we meet challenges each day, it is a step forward to achieving our goals. Fortunately for us, as Bangor University graduates, we have been well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to meet these challenges. Moreover, with the love and support of our families and friends, it is with great conviction that we will one day reach the summit of our mountains.

4  No matter what our reasons for having chosen to study with Bangor University, what matters most is that we are all here today to celebrate our achievements, both individually and as a school. Each of us have had our own unique experiences. Indeed, my experience with MDIS and Bangor University has been a challenging one, yet fruitful and dynamic.

5  Looking back, we were inundated with a range of reading materials, from research articles, lecture slides to textbooks; submission of never-ending assignments; dreading the incapacity of our brains to produce quality content during examinations; fearing that the Turnitin plagiarism results may be higher than the acceptable 20% allowed. Nonetheless, these fears were all laid to rest with the awesome guidance of our lecturers and that is why we are seated here today, reaping the fruits of our labour as proud graduates of Bangor University.

6  Time flies and it has been a while since we last saw each other upon completion of our course of study.  Today is the perfect opportunity for us to get together on this joyous occasion and bask in the glory of our achievements. Thereafter, we will be going separate ways to pursue different career paths. Nevertheless, in the words of literary genius Charles Dickens, ‘The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again,’ and I believe that no matter where life takes us, we will meet again.

7  Treasure the time today and let’s show our appreciation to those who have helped us in achieving our academic success. Interact with lecturers and fellow graduates, network and do keep in touch. Meanwhile, lets focus on our goals and work on reaching the pinnacle of success in our careers.

8  My very best wishes to all of you.

Thank you.
