I\u2019d sometimes take them apart just to see what was inside, even if it meant getting scolded later,\u201d he recalls with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p>One vivid memory was when his parents hid the Wi-Fi password during his teenage years \u2014 that pushed him to learn tools like Wireshark and basic coding just to figure things out on his own. What began as simple curiosity developed into a deep interest in electrical and electronic engineering, blending logic, problem-solving, and creativity.<\/p>\n<p>After graduating with a <strong>Diploma in Automation and Mechatronic Systems from polytechnic<\/strong>, Yi Yun decided to take his knowledge further.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_a_PartTime_Degree\"><\/span><strong>Why a Part-Time Degree?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Yi Yun chose the part-time path so he could <strong>continue working while studying<\/strong>, applying classroom knowledge directly to his job while maintaining financial independence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe support I received from my employer and colleagues made it possible. I didn\u2019t follow a rigid weekly study schedule but worked more intensively during exams and deadlines. Good time management and prioritisation were key.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_MDIS_and_Teesside_University\"><\/span><strong>Why MDIS and Teesside University?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Compared to other institutions, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/teesside-university\">MDIS\u2013Teesside University<\/a> programme stood out for its <strong>efficient course duration<\/strong> and <strong>industry-focused curriculum<\/strong>. Covering topics from power systems to embedded technology, it provided both depth and breadth, with an emphasis on practical learning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe shorter course length was important for me as it gave me more flexibility to plan ahead. With this foundation, I may even consider a master\u2019s degree in the future,\u201d said Yi Yun, who is a proponent of lifelong learning.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Overcoming_Challenges_and_Building_Connections\"><\/span><strong>Overcoming Challenges and Building Connections<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Like many students, Yi Yun faced challenges during his degree course, especially when working on group projects with peers from diverse technical backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was tough at first, but I learned to stay open-minded and adapt my communication style while honing critical thinking skills. It helped me build mutual understanding and stronger teamwork skills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than just academics, he highlighted the <strong>value of networking<\/strong> and career advancement. Group projects and class discussions expanded his professional connections across industries. \u201cDon\u2019t just focus on exams \u2014 take the time to build relationships.
