{"id":2242,"date":"2020-03-30T10:03:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-30T02:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/blog\/?p=2242"},"modified":"2020-02-24T17:16:50","modified_gmt":"2020-02-24T09:16:50","slug":"sashaying-in-style-at-the-levelupwithmdis-roadshow-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/blog\/sashaying-in-style-at-the-levelupwithmdis-roadshow-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Sashaying in Style at the #LevelUpwithMDIS Roadshow 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Management Development Institute of\nSingapore (MDIS) held its annual Roadshow from 10 to 12 January 2020 at Cathay\nCineleisure, in the heart of bustling activity among youths, young adults and\ntourists in Singapore. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the 3 days, Programme Consultants\nfrom the various MDIS schools were on hand to give advice to interested applicants.\n&nbsp;One of the Schools, the MDIS School of\nFashion and Design (SFD) had showcased three fashion flash mob garments\ndesigned by its degree students. Student Kate had won an award\nfor having the best Avant-garde collection where she was inspired by\narchitecture and structures and incoperate them into her garments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Ayan Zeynalova (Degree Year 3)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This outfit\nwas part of the recent Makeover Magic collaboration with Shunji Matsuo,\nwhere students were tasked to create kimono inspired garments for breast cancer\nsurvivors. Ayan was also inspired by birds and their feathers for her collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Suci Ayu Syahfitri (Degree Year 3)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Also part\nof the Makeover Magic collection, Suci used drapes and kept the basic structure\nand sewing methods of the traditional kimono. Her collection was also accentuated\nwith hand cut and hand-sewn lace work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Shanen Prasetyo (Degree Year 3)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a\nmenswear created by Shanen while she was still in Degree Year 2. She made use\nof laser cutting techniques to generate interesting textiles manipulation which\ncovered the entire jacket. Apart of laset cutting, she has also trimmed and\nsewn each cut-out square panel by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Nguyen Thuy Linh (Degree Year 2)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>More\ninformation can be found below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Teo Ka Yong (Degree Year 2)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Also part\nof the Shunji Matsuo Makeover Magic collaboration, Ka Yong created her garments\nalong with the theme \u201cfashionista\u201d.
