The idea of organising a photography competition came from Media Hub\u2019s President and Vice President, Gina Qu Shiying and Aditi Srivastava.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2061\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1-1.png 390w, https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1-1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1-1-298x300.png 298w, https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1-1-130x130.png 130w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 390px) 100vw, 390px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When Gina and Aditi\u00a0presented their ideas, the team members were excited. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdis.edu.sg\/school-of-media-and-communications\">The School<\/a> had won prizes at numerous short film competitions but had not participated in photography competitions.\u00a0 As such, the team felt that a photography competition would be most ideal.<\/p>\n<p>The challenge was in organising the event successfully.\u00a0 The 12 Hours Photography Competition\u00a0 commenced at 12 noon and ended at midnight with participants having 12 hours to click, edit and send the pictures.<\/p>\n<p>Effective planning and budgeting assisted the team in getting things done ahead of the competition.\u00a0 With Aditi and Gina leaving to Oklahoma for their residency programme, Jane (Vice-Head of Media Hub Marketing Unit) stepped in to assist.\u00a0\u00a0 With support from Media Hub\u2019s Studio Officer, Mr Danial, the team worked on promoting and spreading the details of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>The first post was uploaded on Media Hub\u2019s Instagram page and Facebook profile providing details of the competition. The competition was open to both local\u00a0and international participants and comprised two categories &#8211;\u00a0Category A (14-18 years old) and Category B (19-23 years old). Following the first post in April, a number of other posts were uploaded to remind individuals of the competition and registration.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes for the event were \u2013 first prize Go Pro, second prize Instax Mini and third prize Gold Class movie vouchers.\u00a0 Emails were also forwarded to registered participants, informing them of the briefing\u00a0that was to be conducted on the morning of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>On the day of the competition, walk-in\u00a0registrations were also accepted, and details of the rules and theme were shared. The information was also flashed on Instagram\u00a0live for international participants.\u00a0At 12 noon sharp, the official announcement of the competition and the theme was announced.\u00a0 The theme for Category A was &#8216;Urban&#8217; and theme for Category B was &#8216;Psychedelic&#8217;.The team wished all participants the very best and was proud that all of their hard work had finally paid off.
