School of Life Sciences
As the first Private Educational Organization in Singapore to offer Life Sciences programmes, the MDIS School of Life Sciences was established in 2001 to offer an avenue of success to all with the passion to excel in this immense and fascinating field.
Our up-to-date and rigorous programmes, offered in partnership with globally renowned universities, aim to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills they would need to stay abreast of the exciting developments in the Life Sciences sector.
Classroom-knowledge aside, our students will gain hands-on experience in the school's state-of-art laboratories (OHSAS 18001:2007-certified), and can even get the chance to work on both in-house as well as commercial research projects.
The School has implemented the Occupational Health and Safety Management system and the laboratories are OHSAS 18001:2007-certified, another first among private educational laboratories in Singapore.
With specialisations in pharmaceutical management, medical cell biology, cancer biology and medical biochemistry, and now biotechnology, our graduates can look forward to pursuing an enormous diversity of careers in research and in clinical laboratories, as well as in the burgeoning biomedical, pharmaceutical and biologics industries.
An associated sector that is similarly advancing in leaps and bounds is the healthcare industry. Boasting one of Asia's best healthcare systems, Singapore's rapid rise to become a global centre for medical research and education has established its importance as a premier medical hub set to grow in the coming years.
The country is now positioning itself as a popular destination for medical tourism and aims to attract 1 million medical tourists annually by 2012 - an ambition which will generate at least 13,000 new jobs to support the growth of this promising field.
MDIS is proud to offer the Master of Science in Healthcare Management programme, awarded by the University of Wales, UK. The programme has been designed to equip its graduates with the diverse skill-sets required to sustain a lifelong career in the modern healthcare industry. Successfully completing the programme will make our graduates competent to respond to the many situations faced by public and private hospitals, physician practices and managed care organizations, and will prepare them with the critical knowledge and abilities necessary to advance into administrative or leadership positions in the healthcare sector.
