MDIS Business School

DOCTORAL

Doctor of Business Administration
(Awarded by Southern Cross University, Australia (CRICOS: 01241G, 03135E))


Objectives

The objectives of the Southern Cross University DBA are to:
  • Foster abilities and competence in the processes of researching key areas of management and communicating the results of research to peer groups and society
  • Provide extended and advanced training in management linked to workplace projects and investigations

Structure and Duration

Evening Programme
  • Minimum duration of 48 months
  • 2 units per trimester
Day Programme
  • Minimum duration of 24 months
  • 4 units per trimester

Supported by the teaching faculty from the SCU Graduate College of Management and taught by SCU approved tutors

Upon completion of the two DBA research methods units, a supervisor is appointed to support the candidate in the thesis process, which leads to the final production and submission of the DBA thesis for examination.

Candidates will communicate regularly with supervisors via email, phone or fax.


Assessment Methods

  • The business administration units are assessed through assignments completed during each trimester.
  • Preparatory stage units are assessed through assignments and research outputs.
  • Thesis units are not formally assessed during the thesis writing process. The completed DBA thesis is submitted for examination to internal and external examiners approved by the Doctorate Committee.

Graduation and Degree/Certificate/Diploma

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded the prestigious Doctor of Business Administration awarded by Southern Cross University, Australia. Graduates will be allowed to use the title Dr. in front of their name.

  • A recognised MBA
    OR
  • A recognised Masters degree in any discipline
    OR
  • An Australian Honours degree in any discipline at upper second level or better

  • A qualification equivalent to an Honours or Masters degree
