Business Accounting
To develop a comprehensive understanding of fundamental concepts and techniques in financial and management accounting and financial management.
Marketing
To explore the ways of developing marketing strategies that gives you an edge over rivals. It also examines marketing research, the marketing mix, marketing planning, customer behaviour, market segmentation and product positioning.
Operations Management
Concentrating on the management of the process by which goods are made or services delivered, this course focuses on the design of operating systems, business processes, quality management, capacity management, operations planning and facilities management.
Managing People
To promote a critical understanding of the factors that impact upon and influence human behaviour in organisations. To demonstrate the relationship between the study of organisational behaviour (OB) and associated fields, including organisational theory (OT) and development (OD), and Human Resource Management (HRM), and develop critical understanding of research and theory in these allied fields. To provide conceptual understanding to translate organisational behaviour theory, concepts, principles and techniques into practice, enabling students to manage people more effectively in organisation.
Project Management
To foster a critical awareness of the concepts and principles of project management in chosen environments; provide experience in the use of the models, frameworks and techniques to support decision making and control; develop the conceptual understanding that will facilitate the critical evaluation and management of projects in the work environment.
Business Research
To develop a critical awareness in students of the quality of business research. Students will acquire appropriate skills in designing, analysing and presenting business research which contains data and applying statistical techniques to business problems in practical settings. It will also provide students with the necessary skills and understanding of methodology to progress their project work and those other parts of the total programme which involve the collection and analysis of data.
International Human Resource Management
To internationalise student knowledge across an array of human resource management issues. A critical understanding of the current debates over human resource management issues as experienced in multinational companies on a global scale. Develop skills in diagnosis and problem solving of international HR problems and issues.
Personal Development Portfolio (PDP)
To enable students to develop a critical awareness of their own and others' development needs on an ongoing basis. To encourage an independent and reflective approach to learning and development which will be sustainable beyond the programme of study. To provide a framework for students to plan, manage and demonstrate their learning. Students will be taught to assess their development needs and identify resources and opportunities to address them. At the end of the course, students will be able to manage their own development effectively and apply newly acquired skills.

Corporate Finance
To consolidate and develop students' knowledge of financial decisionmaking. Understand factors which impinge on making and implementation of financial decisions. Encourage ability to criticise corporate financial policy and promote an understanding of how capital markets operate. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the capital market's function, and the role of the financial manager of the modern corporation. Students will acquire ability to value companies and to advise on different methods of financing companies.
Marketing Communications
A comprehensive understanding of the role and range of communication methods open to companies, and the means of selecting them to achieve marketing objectives. To develop an integrated marketing communications strategy and recognising the strengths and limitations of the various methods.
Total Quality Management
To familiarise students with the latest developments in TQM and best practice management and to examine in detail the Bradford model for managing quality and best practice throughout organisations.
International Business Strategy
The module develops a comprehensive understanding of the major strategic issues that businesses are confronted with when operating in international markets. This includes assessment of the management implications of international business environment and the major theories and empirical evidence on international business strategy, including issues connected to technology transfer. The module also covers the management implications of the process of internationalisation and the choice of foreign market entry and the increasing demands on multinational corporations to develop CSR policies.
Strategic Management
To develop an understanding of the changing practice of strategic management as organisations operate in dynamic, uncertain, and complex business contexts. To evaluate critically the contribution of innovation, learning, leadership, management, and change to strategy formulation, strategy formation, and strategy enactment.
Management Project
To provide students with the opportunity to study in-depth and create an ordered exposition of a management problem. To integrate and extend knowledge and skills already acquired on the course and to develop research and enhance self-management skills.
The project is an extended piece of written work of 12,000 - 15,000 words, involving an original and in-depth investigation of a specific business management issue. Most participants undertake an organisation-based project, tackling a real problem to which the organisation would welcome a solution. Alternatively, participants may choose to carry out a research based project on a topic agreed between the student and the University.
