FAQs
 

General

  • When will I receive my membership card?

    You will receive your membership card within 2 months after commencement of course.
  • When and how can I receive my results?

    Pre-degree – within 2 months after exam via hardcopy.
    Degree / Master – within 3 to 4 months after exam for UOB Degree, UOW Degree and Master via hardcopy and the rest online.
  • When can I receive pre-degree certificate and transcript?

    You will receive your certificate and transcript 2 months after your last results slip.
  • When can I receive course schedule and timetable for new term?

    You will receive the course schedule and next term timetable 2 weeks before the term starts.          
  • When can I collect my course notes?

    You may collect your course notes from the Student Resource Centre before your class commences.
  • When can I receive my examination appeal result?

    Pre-degree – 3 weeks after appeal.
    Degree / Master – depends on university.
  • How many times can I resit my examination for pre-degree programmes?

    You can resit for 3 times per module.
  • Where can I go to hand in assignments?

    Pre-degree – all assignments to be handed directly to the lecturers (except School of Life Sciences).
    Degree / Master – all assignments and practical reports can be submitted to the Student Resource Centre during office hours or into night boxes at MDIS Campus or MDIS Dhoby Ghaut after office hours (except School of Life Sciences).
  • Who do I approach if I cannot reach the coordinator for queries?

    You can email to sca@mdis.edu.sg.
  • How do I request for a deferment?

    Students should send their requests for course deferment to the SCA Department.
  • How many times can I defer?

    Students are allowed to defer only once up to the maximum period of one year.
 


MDIS Business School (University of Bradford)

  • When can I receive my UB number?

    You will receive your UB number within 1 month after course commencement.
  • When will I receive my certificate and transcript?

    Degree certificate – during graduation.
    Degree transcript – 4 months after last exam.
  • Is there any condition entry for pre-degree?

    Diploma to Advance Diploma – 6 out of 8 modules.
    Advance Diploma to Degree – 6 out of 8 modules.
  • How many times can I resit my examination?

    You can resit for 4 times per module for pre-degree and degree programmes.

 


MDIS Business School (Southern Cross University / University of Wales)

  • Is there any conditional entry to the degree programme?

    There is no conditional entry. You must clear all of your pre-degree modules.
  • How many times can I resit my exam?

    For SCU degree, there is no supplementary paper. You are required to remodule and can resit for 3 times per module. For UOW, you can resit for 3 times per module.
  • How long is the duration to complete the course for UOW degree?

    You are required to complete the course in 5 years.
  • Can UOW degree students change specification?

    You have to write in to request for a change specification. It is allowed only during the 1st year.
  • Can a 1st year student take a 3rd year module for UOW degree programme?

    No.

 

School of Engineering

 

  • Does the degree certificate carry the University of Bradford logo

    Yes, this degree is awarded by the University of Bradford, UK.
  • How does each stage contribute to my final weighted marks for Honours class?

    The class and division of the Honours degree that you are awarded is based on the overall weighted marks that you receive for each stage.
    Stage 2 contributes 30% and Stage 3 contributes 70%.
  • What are the overall weighted average marks to achieve honours class?

    The classes and divisions of the Honours degree are awarded on the basis of the following final overall weighted average marks.
    • 70% or above: First Class Honours
    • 60% or above: Second Class Honours- First Division
    • 50% or above: Second Class Honours- Second Division
    • Otherwise: Third Class Honours

 

 


School of Languages

Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to the School of Languages. We are thrilled that you are joining us.
As a new student, you are bound to have questions. On this page, you will get a sense of the school’s approaches towards teaching and learning.

  • When can I receive my exam results?
    • Basic level – 3 days after the examination date.
    • Advance level – 3 - 4 weeks after the examination date.
  • When will the supplementary exam be if I failed?
    • Supplementary exam will be the day after the collection of result for both levels.
  • When can I receive my certificate?
    • You can receive your certificate 2 months after the release of your result.
  • Is there any conditional entry?
    • Pre-degree – allowed conditional entry to pre-degree course. However, if the student fails, he needs to remodule before rejoining the course.
    • Degree / Master – no conditional entry.
       
 


School of Life Sciences

  • Is there any conditional entry from Foundation to Degree?

    There is no conditional entry.
  • Can student opt for ordinary degree?

    You may opt for ordinary degree (subject to University’s approval) and once you opt for it, you are not allowed to top up for honors degree.
  • When can I receive my University Id?

    You will receive your University Id within 1 month after course commencement.
 


School of Media & Communications

  • Do I need to clear all the levels before I can progress?

    Yes, you have to clear all the levels before progression.
  • Can I know more about OCU Residency?

    Please refer to www.okcu.edu/overseas/residency.aspx.
  • How many times can I resit my degree exam?

    There is no supplementary paper. You are required to remodule and you can resit 3 times for each module.
  • When can I receive my Banner ID and OCU ID?

    You will receive them within the 1st term of your degree programme.
 


School of Technology & E-Learning

  • Is there any conditional entry for Bradford degree in Business Computing programme?

    There is no conditional entry.
  • When will the supplementary exam be if I failed?

    You will be notified of your supplementary date.
 


School of Tourism & Hospitality

  • Is there any conditional entry for the degree programme?

    There is no conditional entry.
 


Postgraduate Unit

  • When and where can I collect my textbooks?

    Textbooks are normally available 2 weeks before class commences. You may collect either at MDIS Campus or MDIS Dhoby Ghaut. You will be notified on the venue of collection.
  • When and how can I collect my certificate and transcript?

    You can collect your certificate and transcript during the graduation ceremony.
  • When can I collect my course notes?

    You will get your course notes on the 1st day of the lesson.
  • When can I get my university ID?

    You will receive your university ID within 6 weeks from your course commencement.
  • How many times can I resit my exam?

    GGSB, UOB & UOW – 2 attempts
    OCU, SCU – there is no resit. If you fail a module, you have to remodule.
